Experience the culture of the Thai ethnic group

What are the ethnic cultures in Mu Cang Chai?

The Thai and H’Mong communities shape the cultural heart of Mu Cang Chai. The Thai live in stilt houses near streams, carrying on their musical and culinary traditions, while the H’Mong inhabit the high mountains, preserving ancient customs and vibrant crafts.

Where to stay for an authentic experience?

We recommend homestays in It Thai village, a community we have supported since 2018 through our responsible tourism project. These renovated stilt houses offer both cultural immersion and direct support to local families.

” I did the Mu Cang Chai trekking and motorbike tour and it was a truly unique experience. The area is gorgeous and it felt really special to share the life of the local communities during the rice harvest season. Nung my guide was great and the homestay, although simple, was comfortable with delicious food. The downside is that I was alone during the tour, as a solo traveler I would have love to meet people. Also the local bus is quite adventurous, so if you are traveling alone, I would advise to make sure there are other people joining. DCT was super responsive for the booking of my trip and they also stayed in touch the whole trip to make sure everything was going well. ” – KIM KAT, TRAVELER
