Our next stop is the Brick Kilns, where you can see how the locals make beautiful pottery from clay. Many products from these kilns are exported around the world. Lunch will be served on the boat, allowing you to immerse yourself in a natural peaceful setting while indulging in Mekong’s delicacies.

Ancient brick kilns in Mang Thit

Our journey continues to Mang Thit, also known as the Red Kingdom. Here, you’ll embark on a bike tour (or rickshaw ride) to explore the tranquil villages and breathtaking scenery of hundreds of ancient brick kilns along the canals. We’ll take a break and visit a local family, where you’ll have the unique opportunity to learn about their traditional crafts, such as brickmaking, floor laying, bamboo weaving, basket crafting, and fabric weaving. This is a rare chance to witness and appreciate the authenticity of these local traditions.

After a scenic boat ride along the Long Ho Canal to An Binh Island, you’ll check in to your homestay. This is not just any accommodation, but a chance to experience authentic local living. You can even prepare dinner with your host if you’re interested. After a delicious meal, you’ll spend the night at the homestay, truly immersing yourself in the local culture.

Meals: breakfast, lunch | Accommodation: Chau Pho hotel

Enjoy a peaceful morning and breathe in the fresh air of the Mekong Delta. After breakfast, we will head to the wharf and begin the day’s journey towards An Giang.

We will arrive at Tra Su Cajuput forest for lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the rich ecosystem of the Cajuput forest by sitting on a rowing wooden boat. The forest is home to 150 species of plants and herbs, as well as more than 140 species of wild animals, most notably white storks.

If time permits, we’ll visit Tan Chau before coming to Chau Doc City. Tan Chau is a small town near the Cambodian border and home to the Cham people, one of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. You can visit a weaving factory to learn about their craft, walk along the canal’s sides, and admire some ancient houses with harmoniously featured architecture combining Vietnam and Cambodia.

We’ll return to peaceful Chau Doc City, check into the hotel, and you can have dinner on your own. Overnight stay is at the hotel.

Meals: breakfast, lunch | Accommodation: Not included

Wake up early to visit the most authentic floating market in the Mekong Delta. Transfer about one hour from Chau Doc to Long Xuyen market and join trade activities on both sides and in the river.

Embark on a small boat and join the families from the nearby regions, who converge to exchange and purchase agricultural and aquatic treasures. Savor your breakfast on the boat with dishes that embrace simplicity but are full of flavor.

Then, transfer to Sa Dec and walk along the riversides to delve deeper into the pace of life of the Southern flower and ornamental garden. If you like and know literature, you will find familiar traces in Marguerite Duras’s novel L’amant (The Lover) when you visit the old school of this famous writer and the ancient house of her lover’s family.
